LESSology Challenge #19: Creative inspiration of Linda Lapotka

Photobucket

Hello there friends! Are you busy working on your projects for LESSology Challenge #19: Mirror, mirror on the wall? We certainly hope so. How about another creative inspiration? From design team member Linda Lapotka?

Hi Everyone Linda here. A month ago I was at a hotel and needed a magnifying mirror. OK, I am getting old and can not get my eye make up on with out one.  There wasn't any around. When I got home I remembered I had my four Mary Kay mirrors from when I sold MK. I got one out and thought here is my project. I took the mirror that looked like this.

Then I up-cycled it to look like this.

With a little Graphic 45 paper, an old linen napkin, some bling and glue I now have a very pretty mirror to hang in my bathroom and to take when I go on a trip.

Here is the video of how I made the transformation.

You can enter the challenge here and see what the rest of the design team has created to inspire you. Did you see that the wonderful sponsor is Spellbinders and our own DT member Julie Tucker-Wolek? Here is the prize if you have not seen it yet.
We are looking forward to seeing your creations.

LESSology Challenge #19: Creative inspiration of Shahrul Niza

Photobucket

So, you enjoying all the design team's mirrored projects so far? We sure hope you would be inspired to play along with LESSology Challenge #19: Mirror, mirror on the wall. Let's check out what design team member Shahrul Niza did with this challenge, shall we?

Hello, it's Shahrul here.

Oh what a SWEET challenge!. I've always love hand mirrors and couldn't resist making one myself. Since I don't have a small round mirror I purchased one for just RM$3. And I'm going to use my old moldy large wooden spoon as the base :).

This is the finished mirror...

New and old items used;

I simply detached the mirror from the unsightly plastic holder. Filled the curve of the wooden spoon with tissue papers and foam tapes.

Then distressed the back of the mirror a little bit so that the paint would chipped and became transparent. I did this by rubbing off the paint with a pen knife and a small scissors. Then adhered vintage rub-ons to the back.

Here is the result of rubbing effort;

I filled up the gap between mirror and wooden spoon with some molding paste. While still wet, made imprints with hand-carved stamps. Let the spoon dry all night.

Once hardened, glued down a crumpled tissue paper all over for some texture. Then painted with champagne color acrylic, distressed with antique brown Stazon, added some bling, a rose and a handmade tassel.

Salvaged crystals from old lamp.

I hope you like it :). Let's get busy with all the exciting ideas and I can't wait to see your creations!. Hugs.

Wow! Wow! Wow! Hope you have all been inspired to get creative with your mirrors for LESSology Challenge #19: Mirror, mirror on the wall. See you on Monday when we announce all the winners for LESSology Challenge #18: It's a Wrap! :)

Ready to check out the design team's projects for LESSology Challenge #19: Mirror, mirror on the wall? Let's see what Yvonne Yam, Kirsty Vittetoe and Laurel Seabrook have up their sleeves, shall we?

Yvonne Yam

Hello there! This is Yvonne. I don't know about you but I can't seem to finish my makeup before it expires on me.  :( Do you have the same problem?
Compact-mirror-altered-project
Seeing that my mother likes to carry photos of her grandchildren around, I upcycled a mirrored compact with a photo of my nephews so that she could look at them every time she reapplied her lipstick. It's a light and compact brag book! :)

Kirsty Vittetoe

Hello all, this is Kirsty here with the new challenge at LESSology - Mirror, Mirror.

My friend Linda gave me 3 of these wooden blocks

now let's gather the material I need for this project

of course the mirror being one of them....

you can see I also use some moss from flower arrangement....

old lace.......

TaDa........

this look like a cute piece of decor for my guest room that I intended to have a shabby chic theme, don't you think?

Laurel Seabrook

Hi everyone, Laurel here.  I am very excited about my mirror project for you today.  I picked up this old cabinet for about $10 at a thrift shop.  The glass doors did not slide well so I took them off.  I then repainted it in a nice dark walnut color...although the shabby lover in me wants to do a bit of distressing to it....  Anyhow to finish it off, I had an old cheap mirror laying around that I knew one day would be good for something.  I had it cut to fit the back of the cabinet.  I love how classy this looks and really shows off our items nicely.  Such and inexpensive home decor item.

There you have it. 3 very different ways for using a mirror on your projects. We would love to see your interpretation of LESSology Challenge #19: Mirror, mirror on the wall. :)
